The Future Difficulty of Discerning Reality
After lounging around on a Saturday afternoon in my doghouse den, three divergent concepts have melded together in my mind: the advancement of computer technology, entertainment, and the human attraction to addiction. Unless Human civilization is destroyed during an upcoming Apocalypse or Global Self Destruction, the convergence of these endeavors will reach a point in the near future where the ability to discern between reality and un-reality will become an extremely thin line. As much as I myself (a Shapeshifter) love the possibilities of continued global Internet growth, the current preference of a huge percentage of the human population is to reach for the most immediate gratification of pleasure available, with the smallest depth of thought necessary to acquire it.
The desire for the attainment of altered states of reality have been consistent throughout human history. Whether for entertainment, escapism, religion, or “Oneness with a Higher Authority”, humans have ALWAYS found a way to satisfy their emotional or spiritual needs. In the past, alcohol, drugs, physical deprivation and other means have provided these fulfillments. It’s my belief that the escalating advancement of computer generated audio, graphics, images, videos, AND the combination of upcoming artificial intelligence with online gaming, will result in a worldwide environment where large percentages of the human population won’t have any ability to tell the difference between “What’s Real” and ‘What’s Not”. Totalitarian governments around the globe will have another method of subliminally manipulating millions of their subjects.
For a simple example of this realization, look at the image on the top of this post. It is NOT a movie clip. It is a real photograph of a U.S. astronaut looking down at Earth from the International Space Station. The following image is from a “Star Trek” Movie:
For a split second, didn’t you think that the first image was also from a Hollywood production? The differences between a Real image and a Computer Generated one will become even more blurred in the future. This can easily result in the public’s perception of the “Facts” being nothing more than an Orwellian daily news blurb. Welcome to our Brave New World. Why not participate in it? Create you own website; create your own Reality for others; and find out how to Profit from mankind’s constant quest for Entertainment & Escapism. ”Let The Force Be With You!” Arf! Arf!
